WebFirth-Cozens and Mowbray (2001) cite a number of studies which demonstrate links between stress of staff in teams and the quality of patient care. The authors argue that team functioning impacts upon stress levels and clinical leaders play an important role in the production of effective teams (Clark, 2012).
